Wide Receiver Tony Johnson Post Spring Practice #3

Wide Receiver Tony Johnson is coming off a 2024 season in which he led team with six touchdown catches, ranked third in receptions (48) and receiving yards (449).

The redshirt senior had an up-and-down season during his first year in Clifton but returns as a key member of a wide receiver room that should be a strength on this year's team.

"I'm just honing in on the details," Johnson explained after the Bearcats' third spring practice Wednesday afternoon. " You know we got a lot of new guys in the room. I've been trying to take on a leadership role, help those guys out, which has helped me get better at my position as well."
Johnson's best performance of the 2024 season was against Kansas State when he finished with eight receptions for 52 yards and two touchdowns.

Now that Johnson has a year of experience under his belt playing in the Big 12, he has a better understanding of what to expect after spending his previous time at Florida Atlantic.
"Just the speed of the game," Johnson said in terms of what he learned in year on at UC. "Coming from a lower conference, you know, everybody's a little faster so that means the details, like I get the ball, you always have to catch. That's something I've been trying to work on. But just being electric with the ball in my hands and being decisive when I got it."
