Transfer Portal Update: Cincinnati Receives Three New Additions

Cincinnati added to their roster over the weekend, as well as Monday, with the commitments of three more players through the transfer portal.

Former Wisconsin and Oklahoma running back Tawee Walker was the biggest name of the group.

Walker was a Big-10 Honorable Mention selection following his redshirt senior campaign after totaling 864 yards and 10 touchdowns on 190 carries during the 2024 season.

During the month of October, Walker averaged 119.3 yards per game on the ground, which ranked seventh among Power 4 running backs that month.

The addition of Walker gives the UC offense a power back to compliment the explosion and speed of Evan Pryor, similar to the role that Corey Kiner held during this past season.

UC also added former Virginia Tech redshirt senior defensive end CJ McCray.

McCray played in 36 games across four seasons with Virginia Tech, tallying 45 tackles, 6.0 TFL, and 5.5 sacks. He appeared in eight games this past season.

At 6'4" 251 pounds, McCray adds length and depth along a defensive line that struggled to get to the quarterback this past season.

Cincinnati also used the transfer portal to shore up the back end of their secondary with the addition of former UCF quarterback Xavier Williams.

Williams made the transition from quarterback to safety during his first season at Middle Tennessee and ended up leading the team in tackles (77), while also finishing with three pass breakups, three tackles for loss, one interception, and a fumble recovery across 10 games.

Following the season, Williams earned Honorable Mention All-CUSA. Williams adds good size and length to the Cincinnati secondary at 6'2, 205 pounds.
