Jizzle James Returning to Cincinnati

After the announcement of six departures, head coach Wes Miller and Cincinnati fans received good news on Wednesday afternoon when sophomore point guard Jizzle James announced on Instagram that he would return to Cincinnati for his junior season.

James averaged 12.7 points and 3.5 assists this past season which led the team in both categories. The Florida native also pulled down 3.0 rebounds per game while making 40% of his field goal attempts and 77% of his free throws.

James lacked consistency at time from deep, finishing the season at 28.2%, but did have a three-game stretch during February where he averaged 24 ppg and made 13-of-22 3-point attempts. For James to take that next step in his development, he will have to continue to improve his 3-point shot and get closer to 35%.

James reached double figures in 13 of his final 14 games after being held scoreless in the Bearcats' loss to West Virginia on February 2nd.

With Cincinnati's backcourt at point guard now solidified with James, Kentucky transfer Kerr Kriisa, along with Top-50 freshman Keyshuan Tillery,  the focus will now be on adding front court help after the announcement that Dillon Mitchell, Arrinten Page, and Tyler Betsey would all enter their name into the transfer portal.
