George Mason transfer Jalen Haynes Commits to UC

Cincinnati received the commitment of George Mason transfer Jalen Haynes Saturday afternoon.  A 6'8" 260 lb center out of Fort Lauderdale, FL Haynes has the size and toughness to be a physical presence in the post that Cincinnati lacked this season.

Haynes earned First Team All-A10 honors following a senior season that saw him average 14.1 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game on 55.4% shooting from the field. Then big man finished fifth in the league in double-doubles with five.

Additionally, Haynes has attempted 174 and 187 free throws over the past two seasons while at East Tennessee State and George Mason. Haynes saw action in nine games during his freshman season at Virginia Tech.

Haynes scored 20-plus points in seven games this season, including a season-high 25 points against both Fordham and UNC-Asheville. The bruising big man also finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds in a December loss to Duke.

Cincinnati needed to get tougher and more physical across the board to withstand the physicality and grind of the Big 12. The additions of Kerr Kriisa, Sencire Harris, and Jalen Haynes all check those boxes as Wes Miller continues to try to re-shape his roster.
