Cincinnati Set to hire new defensive coordinator
After Bryan Brown elected to leave Cincinnati for his alma mater, Ole Miss, Scott Satterfield was tasked with finding his replacement.
Bryan Brown worked with Scott Satterfield at both Appalacian State and Louisville but the opportunity to return his alma mater as defensive coordinator was too good to pass up.
Scott Satterfield is expected to hire Iowa State linebackers and associate head coach Tyson Veidt as the Bearcats' new defensive coordinator.

Matt Zenitz reported it first.
Who is Tyson Veidt?
Veidt is an Ohio native, graduating from Logan (OH) in 1992 prior to attending Muskingum College.
Veidt spent time at both Indiana and West Virginia in grad assistant roles before landing the linebacker position coach role at Toledo in 2014.
This past season was Veidt's eighth season at Iowa State as associate head coach/linebackers coach.
Seven Cyclone linebackers earned All-Big 12 recognition a total of 16 times under the guidance and leadership of Veidt..
Three times in Veidt’s Cyclone career all three starting linebackers received All-Big 12 accolades (2017, 2018, 2019).
The success of Veidt’s linebackers has aided Iowa State in ranking second (20.9- 2017), first (22.9- 2018), third (25.9- 2019), second (21.4- 2020), third (20.5, 2021) and first (20.2, 2022) in the Big 12 in scoring defense in each of the last six seasons, all totals among the top-50 nationally.
ISU’s total defense numbers have been just as stout. ISU was second in the league in 2018 (349.2), 2020 (340.4) and 2021 (310.5) before leading the league in 2022 (285.6). The Cyclones’ 2022 defensive effort ranked fourth nationally.
Iowa State’s 2022 defensive unit became just the third in Big 12 history to lead the league in scoring defense, total defense, rushing defense (107.3) and passing defense (178.2).
For a program that struggled defensively this past season at times in both coverage as well as getting to the quarterback, this is a good hire that should help Cincinnati continue to elevate their program to the level that fans are used to seeing.
