Big 12 Tournament: Cincinnati baseball falls to UCF, 6-5, in 11 innings
The Bearcats battled back from a 5-1 deficit to tie the score at 5 with three runs in the ninth inning but fell short, losing 6-5 in 11 innings to 8th seed UCF in the opening round of the Big 12 baseball tournament.
UCF senior catcher Danny Neri finished 4-for-6 with three homeruns and four runs batted in. His last homerun of the game came in the top of the 11th inning with two outs to give UCF the lead for good.
Sophomore Christian Mitchelle led the Bearcats, going 3-for-6 at the plate with a double and two runs batted in.
Cincinnati will play Texas Wednesday afternoon at 4 in an elimination game. The two teams did not meet during the regular season.
