Reports: FC Cincinnati acquires Inter Miami RWB DeAndre Yedlin
FC Cincinnati made a big move this afternoon as it was reported by The Enquirer's Pat Brennan that FC Cincinnati was on the verge of acquiring Inter Miami and USMNT star DeAndre Yedlin.
The trade details are still pending but it is worth noting that Tom Bogert of the Athletic reported that FC Cincinnati acquired the 30-year old veteran for roughly $172,000 dollars in general allotment money. This was a huge move for Chris Albright and FC Cincinnati as they continue their big offseason following the addition of the Inter Miami star.
FC Cincinnati has shown that they are in the win now mindset following their stellar 2023 season, where they took home the MLS Supporters Sheild for the first time in club history. Albright and staff made it a priority to go out and land the best talent this offseason as Yedlin is slated to join a defensive back field that features Reigning MLS Defender of the year Matt Miazga and USMNT Star Miles Robinson.
Since joining Inter Miami back in 2022, Yedlin has appeared in 64 matches with his latest coming last night as Inter Miami silenced Orlando FC 5-0. Yedlin, provides veteran leadership to an already talented FC Cincinnati squad, as the talented right-wing defender has appeared in 81 matches for the United States Men's National Team throughout his playing career.
With the addition of Yedlin, Pat Noonan has now added a pair of USNMT players to his starting XI this offseason to pair alongside the reigning MLS MVP In Lucho Acosta and reigning MLS Defender of the Year in Matt Miazga. It is clear to the see that FC Cincinnati is trying to make it known to other clubs that they are here to stay and that their 2023 was no fluke.
The talented veteran provides quality veteran leadership as the 30-year-old wing back was named to the 2014 and 2023 USNMT World Cup rosters. Anytime you can add a player like Yedlin's caliber to your team especially at that price is a huge opportunity for any club. However, for FC Cincinnati it is clear to say they are doing whatever they can to compete at the big stage, especially seeing Alvaro Barreal head back to Brazil on a loan earlier this week.
FC Cincinnati is coming off their first victory off the season, where they defeated the Chicago Fire 2-1 on Saturday night at Soldier Field. the Orange and Blue will be back in action this Thursday at 11:15 when they welcome back Brandon Vazquez and Monterrey to TQL Stadium in the CONCACAF Champions Club.
