Jizzle James announces return to Cincinnati

With most of the roster movement announced by returning and departing players from Cincinnati's 2023/24 roster, the one player who hadn't made their intentions know yet was freshman point guard Jizzle James.

James posted a video on instagram Tuesday night announcing his return to Cincinnati for his sophomore season.

James averaged 23 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3 assists per game in two starts  during the NIT following Day Day Thomas' season ending foot injury. For the season, the Orlando native averaged 7.8 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on 42.2 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from deep.

While it's easy to get excited about James' scoring capabilities, he showed improvement throughout the season defensively and really started to settle in at that end of the court as his role expanded late in the season.

More importantly, the talented point guard had just five turnovers over his final eight games, with three of those coming in the NIT loss to Indiana State. James' ability to take care of the ball will be a primary reason why he sees an even bigger role as a sophomore.

James' return means the Bearcats officially have back five of their top seven scorers from last season. With four-star freshmen Tyler Betsey and Tyler McKinley coming in next season, along with former top 60 four-star USC transfer big man, Arrinten Page, and Bradley transfer Connor Hickman, Wes Miller without a doubt will have his most talented roster since taking over at Cincinnati.
