WBB: 2025 5-star Purcell Marian star Dee Alexander commits to Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bearcats Women's Basketball program has landed the commitment of five-star Purcell Marian wing Dee Alexander.

Surrounded by her family by the Oscar Robertson statue in front of Fifth Third Arena, Alexander chose the Bearcats over other finalists, Ohio State and Illinois.

Ranked the No. 1 player in Ohio and sixth best prospect nationally, Alexander becomes the highest rated player to ever commit to the Bearcats.

After winning Ohio Miss Basketball as a sophomore and junior, she became just the seventh player in state history to win the award in consecutive seasons.

Alexander scored 18 points in a 79-52 win over Shaker Heights Laurel in the Division II state championship game and is now the state tournament's all-time leading scorer with 134 points. Purcell Marian has won three consecutive state championships, one in Division III, and the previous two in Division II.

The Cincinnati product averaged 18.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.5 steals per game during her junior season.

At 6-foot-1, Alexander is a skilled, physical wing, who handles the ball like a point guard and can score from all three levels while also defending all five positions at the other end of the floor.

The skillset displayed on the court is just part of the reason that Alexander has racked up over 30 scholarships offers that include the likes of Iowa, South Carolina, UConn, and Notre Dame, among others.

Off the court, Alexander is an honors student.

Alexander joins 5-foot-8 guard Joya Crawford (Dyersburg, TN) and 5-foot-9 combo-guard Paige Whitted (Briarcrest, TN) in Cincinnati's 2025 class.

Merriweather and her staff also landed highly touted 4-star Duncanville (TX) point guard Chloe Mann in the 2024 class.

If you haven't already, it may be time to start taking notice of what Cincinnati Women's Basketball is building.
