FC Cincinnati Defender Matt Miazga Suspended Three Matches

By: Neil Meyer

Tonight, the MLS announced that FC Cincinnati Defender Matt Miazga would be suspended for the teams next three matches and fined an undisclosed amount following a post-match incident that took place on November 4th following the orange and blue's match vs the New York Red Bulls.

Miazga was not available for the Orange and Blues 1-0 victory over Philadelphia on Saturday due to a yellow card suspension. However, Pat Noonan and the Orange and Blue will have to prepare for the Eastern Conference Finals without their best defender in Miazga.

Miazga, was named MLS Defender of the Year last week, and has been a key piece for the Orange and Blue this season. Miazga has anchored the back line of defense, but now is forced to sit and watch as his team prepares for their first ever Eastern Conference Finals match vs In-State Rival Columbus Crew.

This is a huge blow for Pat Noonan and the Orange and Blue as Miazga was the heart and soul of the orange and blue's defense. This is huge news for the Orange and Blue as defender Obinna Nwobodo missed the last match vs Philadelphia due to injury and his status for Saturday's match is uncertain still, but Pat Noonan expects him to be available he said in his post-match press conference on Saturday.

Along with the suspension and fine, Miaza will have to undergo a substance abuse and behavioral health program, Miazga will be able to petition for his suspension to be reduced based on continued commitment and compliance with any other recommended treatment programs.

The Orange and Blue will now be without Miazga, and Nick Hagglund who is recovering from Hamstring surgery. Both were key pieces for FC Cincinnati this season and the Orange and Blue are now down two important pieces ahead of their biggest match in Club History as the Orange and Blue look to solidify their spot in the MLS Cup Championship with a win.

The Orange and Blue now quickly prepare for their matchup against the Columbus Crew on Saturday that will kick off at 6pm.
